Kandasamy has a special interest in neonatal tongue tie treatment and is actively involved in research into its effects on newborn babies. He qualified as a dentist in 1995 with a distinction in oral surgery and went on to complete a master's degree in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1999. Upon moving to the UK, he undertook further postgraduate examinations in oral surgery and oral medicine, leading to entry onto the General Dental Council's Specialist Register for Oral Surgery. He has held the position of honorary senior lecturer at the University of Leeds, teaching oral surgery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Kandasamy undertakes a wide range of oral surgery procedures and manages oral medical conditions. He also holds certifications in advanced life support and advanced trauma life support, supporting his care of medically compromised dental patients. His clinical work includes the surgical management of canine impaction, coronectomy and neonatal tongue tie. He has a particular interest in bone preservation techniques and has extensive experience in managing complex oral surgery cases. His research has been published in international peer reviewed journals, and he also contributes to postgraduate dental examinations as an examiner.
